The only new information on this utterly worn ground was those benchmarks: the trends and variations were interesting, in particular that building a DOM seems to be at a minimum as expensive as parsing (esp in Java). And it looked like sometimes DOM building was much more expensive than parsing. And quite a variation in the performance of different parsers/DOMbuilders/validators/XSLT still. Cheers Rick Jelliffe
