nafta pipeline
And that is how GM trumped Ford.

Then the Japanese taught all that one could have
all of those choices plus reliable high
performance and the US spent a lot of money
it didn't have at the time to retool and
we got our money back. Then they moved
the manufacturing plants to American because
the gap time made the Japanese too expensive
a labor force to build the products its
engineers designed and the Americans were
too expensive to sew cloth so that went
to Mexico down the NAFTA pipeline.

And here in the Land 'o Cotton, we got to
build Mercedes SUVs. Yahoooooo! Ebb and Flo
were not just members of the Mothers of Invention;
they were also Turtles!

Aw gawd, it's Friday, ain't it?

Sometimes this permathread reminds me of Henry Ford, who supposedly said
that he would paint his cars whatever color the customer wants, so long as
it is black. If black Model T XML works for your customers, great ... but
some people seem to want it in blue, with a little more power that requires
higher-octane non-standard fuel, and are willing to pay the price.
