RE: Horse-and-buggy Text Markup Language (Was: SML: Second Try)

horse buggies
The world weary thinking of the 22 year old who
while an adult, has yet to let go of the rope and
so swings in the hot sun between the shore of
unfettered ambitions and the cooling river of
hard-won experience?

If XHTML had made for a more stable client, I'd
accept it.  Because the HTML legacy is so
voluminous, it becomes yet another layer of
best practice implemented over loose practice.
I don't know what the benefits are except to
inculcate an appreciation for just how hard it
is to do it right for the right reasons instead
of wrong for the right reasons.

You think it is an information superhighway?
I think it is an Irish paved road:  better than
the cow path that preceded it, but yet to be
four-laned and everyone is driving very fast
on the wrong side.

Ok, Sean; flame away. ;-)

Care to hazard a one-liner as to the characteristics of the minds of those who created XHTML? :)

So it can pull the Horse-and-buggy Text Markup Language along the Information Superhighway? :)
