Attach a license to your code (in this case,
since it is a component, I recommend the BSD license at
http://www.opensource.com/licenses/bsd-license.html, being sure to fill
in your own name).  Then publish it on your web site.  Announce it at
Freshmeat and here on XML-dev (which will get it into the Cover pages).
