You can try Asami Tomoharu's Relaxer (http://www.relaxer.org), a Java schema compiler. Relaxer can generate DOM classes from Relax Core or RELAX NG schemas or from instances. You can create RELAX NG schemas from DTDs with James Clark's DTDInst (http://www.thaiopensource.com/dtdinst/). Relaxer can also generate DTDs, Relax Core, RELAX NG, and XSD schemas from instances or from Relax Core/RNG schemas. I really like both these tools.
