But what does that have to do with XHTML 2.0? If we were arguing about 
"What is XForms for?" then "competition with XDocs" might be part of the 
answer. But XHTML does compete with XDocs nor with the office file 
formats....

True enough. I'm starting to wonder about the pile-up of standards 
around editable, flowable documents.

  * there is XHTML
  * there is XSL-FO
  * there is a new Open Office project which will surely define a new 
word processor format
  * SVG now has textflow features

The XHTML working group _could_ take it upon themselves to attack this 
particular problem.
