Ever so true.  If we tell them the cold facts, 
"It's a syntax.  You have some choices to make 
and if you get them wrong up front, we have a 
lot of rework ahead."  he will wander away and 
befuddle others, maybe important people.

One answer is, "That's great!  Do I have 
a budget for this?" and let him worry about that. 

So then the question is, what would you do first?

BTW:  my boss tells me that I am too abstract. 
I tell him that people who can't handle abstractions 
shouldn't attempt XML. ;-)
