You could write a trivial preprocessor that removed elements in a specific namespace and their descendents but left its input otherwise unmodified. That would take care of your commenting-out requirement, too. The implementation can be in XSLT or SAX filters. You can use use it with any other vocabularies that don't define a documentation element. Ari.
