Larry Masinter has a post on www-tag that asks some interesting questions about how XML and namespace usage: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/www-tag/2002Oct/0248.html One thing I find interesting is that similar issues apply to pretty much any URI usages in XML, from DOCTYPE declarations to stylesheet references to hyperlinks. I'm not sure that namespaces rate any special status, but they do raise somewhat more unusual questions about the use of http URIs in particular. "attractive nuisance" seems like a nice turn of phrase as well. ------------- Simon St.Laurent - SSL is my TLA http://simonstl.com may be my URI http://monasticxml.org may be my ascetic URI urn:oid:1.3.6.1.4.1.6320 is another possibility altogether
