[I have a DOM WG action item to check with the > RELAX NG folks about this, and this post just reminded me!!!] There is no standard way, for several reasons: 1) A receiver often wants to check the document against a standard schema, not one specified by the sender which may not be equivalent. 2) It makes sense to check a document against different schemas for different purposes. In particular, checking XHTML involves three different schemas, the "main" one and two that check various exclusions (e.g. no A elements within A elements). 3) It's really a special case of the general XML processing problem, which should be solved with a general solution. -- John Cowan <jcowan@r...> http://www.reutershealth.com http://www.ccil.org/~cowan .e'osai ko sarji la lojban.
