RE: URIs and Names on the Web

RE: URIs and Names on the Web
Location and name are two values one can
evaluate in the process of assigning an identity
value. Locations change and names have aliases,
so other means (eg, reliable observation) are
also sometimes used to assert that the identity
is still valid. What you say works until someone
sets out to spoof a system. Identity is assigned
based on evaluating evidence which can include
location(s) and name(s); not a synonym.

Like when you're called by the good doctor's office and they verify your
name (AKA identity) by referring to you physical address (AKA location)?

To me, location and name are both synonyms for identity; locations and names
just describe identity in a different way. Thus, it should be valid to use
one or the other whenever the identity of **a thing** is required.
