Uh, these are some really tough problems.  Maddening problems actually, and 
problems that have a substantial impact on how we use the tools.  There's a 
whole community out here trying to deal with some really difficult stuff, 
and I think it's fair to say that leaving it to the TAG folks to solve 
isn't really an option.

Stick around for a while and see if it cycles to something you consider 
less "academic". You might try asking your own presumably deeply practical 
questions and see if the answers make you any happier than what you get for 
arriving in the middle of a really contentious discussion about a painfully 
vague (but annoyingly important) topic.
