I haven't heard of XUL before but if I understand the idea correctly it potentially could have additional benefits from an accessibility point of view? Some visually impared people for example use low resolution screens (640x480) and large fonts which cause problems when using windowing systems and software written for higher resolutions or even normal higher resolution screens if large fonts are used. (On windows for example, just try setting screen resolution to 1024x768 and set the font size to 250%. Standard dialogs in many of the office applications won't fit on screen completely which makes them unusable unless you know the shortcuts and options off screen.) Was accessibility considered during the design of XUL or maybe any of the other standards mentioned? Do any provide a mechanism for the user to modify the appearance or handle situations like that described above?
