I'm *very* happy with the changes we're making to SOAP 1.2 re GET, but they're only the tip of the iceberg as far as getting Web services folks to understand how REST can help them. For example, see this requirement that I championed in the Web Services Architecture WG (which I know you know about, Mike); http://www.w3.org/2002/ws/arch/2/06/wd-wsa-reqs-20020605.html#AR003.6 That it needed to be accepted as a requirement at all says a lot about how far people still have to go to understand it. I expect the GET stuff in SOAP 1.2 to help, but speaking from experience here, it can take years to make the leap from knowing what GET means to understanding what it means to have "hypermedia as the engine of application state".
