I'm partial to XMetaL myself ... it doesn't have Spy's built-in XSLT editor
or Schema editor, but us minimalists don't use that fancy stuff much anyway :~)
For what I do -- write HTML and XML text documents and build DOM applications
and database interfaces for those documents -- it works very well.
The biggest differentiator favoring XMetaL is semi-WYSIWYG editing for
text, and a quite easy to use styling tool that works with CSS.

I use both Spy and XMetaL, actually ... Spy for building schemas and
XSLT stylesheets, mainly for server-side stuff, and XMetaL for actual
authoring and building DOM/CSS client-side stuff. My ideal IDE would
support CSS, XSLT, DTDs, various schema languages, WYSIWYG editing,
understand HTML semantics, and DOM scripting. Oh yeah, and somehow support
both Java and Microsoft deployment platforms :~) I don't think it exists,
so a "best of breed" strategy is still necessary.

Query: what other XML authoring tools or IDE's support ECMASCRIPT DOM
customization/scripting?
