Or maybe this will be the catalyst that leads to an improvement of the abysmal US patent system where any idea that is couched in a modicum of technical lingo is awarded a patent to the dentriment of the industry as whole. Then again, maybe I'm just a hypocrite considering that I work for a company with a significant patent portfolio. So I guess, Yes, we should blame him for wasting HIS money to show his son how ridiculous the US patent system is and how much of a farce his day to day job actually is. Back to metaphysical questions about URIs and REST vs. RPC I go. -----Original Message----- From: Timothy A. Subject: RE: (RE: Patents) I agree that it is good to show your son what you do for a living, but in this case, it was done at the taxpayer's expense. Maybe there is a precedence to be set against filing frivolous patent claims? Maybe a suit should be filed? Maybe this is a defense against the business process cases that seem to have no merit? I hate it but the above sounds reasonable to me too... When they ask me what I do for a living, I usually have to say something like "You know... Computer stuff".
