Of course things work. I can make documents in that namespace, I can
query those documents with XSLT (or Xquery), I can specify typesetting
rules for documents in that namespace using xmltex. I can write XML
schema and DTD's for documents in taht namespace and validate against
those. Everything works as a namespace name is just a name.
