REST, SQL

rest sql
Recent discussion of RDBMS and REST reminded me of a comment I heard at
the O'Reilly P2P/Web Services conference last November, though I can't
remember the source. Something like:

"REST is to traditional RPC kind of what SQL was to dBase and similar
database languages."

Both change the rules of the game with a different viewpoint and a
different set of architectural demands. I think it's fair to say (of
REST and older versions of SQL, anyway) that they're both simplification
efforts.

Will REST produce another Fabian Pascal?
