Shravan,

   If you can get your hands on a copy of O'Reilly's "CGI Programming with
Perl", I found Chapter 14, "Middleware and XML", to be very helpful in
introducing XML concepts and how Perl code is used to work with XML. They
concentrate on Clark Cooper's XML::Parser module, one of several available
at CPAN (start at their search site, http://search.cpan.org/, search for
"XML").
