Adam Bosworth on XML and W3C
I haven't seen much response to Adam Bosworth's commentary on the state of
XML and the W3C:
http://www.xmlmag.com/upload/free/features/xml/2001/11nov01/et0111/et0111.as
p

"The size and complexity of the Schema and the Query are staggering. They
dwarf that of the relational world. There is no layering, no well-defined
starting subset. Make no mistake. These are not easy or simple
specifications. The very syntax is intimidating sometimes in its complexity.
"

"We, the users, need to ask hard questions of the W3C. Are you really
helping us and serving our needs? Or are you out of control building
increasingly arcane and complex solutions that will cause us pain for years
to come? And, if so, what are you going to do to fix it? If we don't get
answers, a movement to create kinder, simpler, leaner alternative solutions
for processing XML messages may be in order. "

This would be pretty inflamatory a year or two ago ... is it the
conventional wisdom today?
