You can also make sure that if you need to replace all the bolts that have the same specification, you do not miss one critical one (benefit of normalization). You are actually storing an instance of that bolt and updating that single instance. The assembly logic makes sure that the car gets reassembled with the right bolt in place. It also makes sure that if a bolt is changed, the nut that goes with bolt is the correct one.
