I for one would appreciate an authoritative explanation.  I was quite
enamored of ObjectStore some years ago and have always wondered what
happened to the OODBMS category's mindshare; I had assumed that it was
buried in the "Universal DBMS" hype from the relational vendors.  I think it
would be completely appropriate to this thread to help us understand where
to optimally use RDBMS, OODBMS, and XMLDBMS, especially since I've raised
the "XMLDBMS as better OODBMS than the OODBMS" use case!
