paulo gaspar java
Elliotte -- when XML-RPC came out there was nothing like it, and no concept
that anything would follow it that did the same thing. It's a mark of its
success that now everyone thinks it was so obvious.

Further, there's nothing that says that Sun *has* to dilute the name-- they
could choose to respect it -- or even support the developers that have built
on it. Java is a fully supported XML-RPC environment.

called simply "Markup Language" or perhaps "ML". Both HTML and XML were
invented after long experience with many different markup languages so no
one presumed that they would be the only one or the last one. XML Schemas
and XML-RPC, by contrast, were out the gate relatively early. It's not clear
that their inventors gave serious thought to the idea that they might not be
the only such language. If they had, then they might have picked less
generic names.
