RE: Xml Sample File from Schema or DTD?

xml sample file
That's what I thought too, that it just creates a XML doc with the DTD
assigned and the helpers following the DTD telling you what is acceptable
for the point you are at. It doesn't go through the DTD and permute the
possibilities and create sample files. But I changed the setting somewhere
to have it not ask for a DTD when creating a XML file, and now I can't find
that setting to switch it back to test it.

It will give you a xml file from schema. However, it will give you a basic
structure only not the whole schema converted.

When you go to the File->New menu and select XML file, it will ask you if
you want to generate the new XML file based on the Schema or DTD, select
either, than click select the path to your .dtd|.xsd file and off it goes.
I have version 3.5, so if you have an earlier version, you might need to
upgrade.

I just took a look through my help file and could not find this
functionality listed. Where did you find it? I know (and use) about the
generate DTD from sample XML files, but I have not seen anything about
going
from a DTD to sample files.

Yes, I just went and checked. XML Spy has this functionality, I also
believe they provide an API to most of the functionality, (not sure if
you
must buy to use), so you can probably programmatically generate the file
too.

Hi Giota
I am also in the lookout of such a tool. Could you please let me know
the
link so that I can explore it?
Thanks

Hello,

does anybody happen to know of an "open source" java tool for creating
an
Xml sample file from a Schema (xsd schema file)
or from a DTD?
I have heard of IBM Xml Generator but that tool has a 90 days trial
licence.Any other suggestions?
Thank you.Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Giota
