To be fair, there were a number of comments about it 
getting too complex.  Even Paul Grosso posted an email 
mentioning that it was beyond a DTD plus more datatypes.
The response was the primer which did help some (me 
included) understand the thing.

You are right. The time for that debate is past.  The future 
is in the PSVI and the new recommendations.  Not surprisingly, 
that seemed to me to be what Henry was saying in his slides 
from his presentation.  Some may differ with what he has 
in mind, or others, but that is exactly the debate that 
should be held now.  Schemas are a done deal.
