Well, NEL is a bit more canonical, but I can tell you that it's very easy
to mistakenly type in a zenkaku space... which can have problems downstream.

FWIW. As Rick pointed out, I'm personally in favor of having visual
whitespace mapped to separator, so I'm basically in favor of including
NEL. I'm just pointing out that there =are= interoperability problems
that come about from allowing such things.
