WML & XML format question

format wml
What is different about the way that WML
elements are formed versus the way that XML elements are formed?

By way of example, the HTML method is different from the XML method
because certain elements, like br, are written differently. Under
straight XML, we'd write "<br/>" whereas with the HTML method this would
be "<br>" without the "/" before the closing greater than sign. There
are also other rules, like certain attributes, for example, that are
different between HTML and XML.

Thanks,
-Ben
