On the contrary, the same SAX filter can be used between the application
that generates the XML data and the serializer. Though it's a slightly odd
thing to do: most applications trust themselves to produce valid output.

The only assumption being made is that you are prepared to structure the
application as a SAX pipeline.

SAX doesn't have to mean Java. But it will certainly be easiest to do in a
single-language environment.
