Hello, I'm a newbie to XML, so my question might sound strange to you. I am wandering, if I could use XML to generate ascii files. I am not quite sure, whether XML in conjunction with an XML parser would be appropriate. In particular, I want to create reports, that are defined by fixed texts with certain portions variable and to be replaced by parameters. Actually this is the classical string substitution, as it has been done "for ages", putting keys into a text, parsing the text and replacing it with a value. Does it make sense to work with XML instead? And if so, could someone give me a hint on how to do it the most appropriate way?
