REC-xml-names-19990114 has a section, "Namespace Constraint: Prefix Declared", in which it is specified that "the prefix xml is by definition bound to the namespace name http://www.w3.org/XML/1998/namespace". As this recommendation goes, things don't get any more explicit than that. > As I said in an > earlier email, it's just a name. In general, this is correct. Many of which include domain names. The namespace recommendation should be careful to either specify and to use uri's with the appropriate semantic or revise the recommended semantic to match the uri which it specifies and uses. > > > please, someone, > > a) revise spec to bind the xml prefix a URN > > a.1) specify a URN resolution mechanism to map the URN to a schema > > > > or, > > b) revise the spec to confirm, that, where an http-URL is used, the > > intended use is to locate a schema. > *************************************************************************** This is xml-dev, the mailing list for XML developers.
