We have had discussion on this list earlier where several members have urged that software announcements have a minimum of metadata. It takes time and effort to visit sites and I was merely trying to reflect these views. When I post "moderatorial" messages to the list, I try hard to reflect the "median" of the readership. This isn't easy - and I found it difficult to take such a position during the recent discussions of list mechanics. > perhaps driven by the lean environment >of academia. I do not advocate either personally or as "moderator" that only free software should be announced on the list - only that the metadata be *briefly* included. The primary criteria is that any announcements (software/conferences/jobs/books etc.) be of general interest to the XML-DEV community.
