Yeah... This is patethic!

Patents are supposed to protect investment but they are
being overused by oportunists.

Sometimes it looks as it is no longer a way to get return
on investment in sophisticated stuff.

In the software industry, it looks more like a way of
getting money on obvious things that everybody will want 
to do by being the first non ethical entity running to the
pattent office.

(I am not even going to start talking on the movie, music
or pharmaceutic industries.)

It does look like they are trying to patent it.  Humorous isn't
it?

This just means that they submitted a "preliminary patent" or
a "patent application".  The PTO has yet to review it...

I really hope that the PTO would be smart enough to 
see that there is both prior art for this and also
that the technique is obvious.  You never know!
