Hi Don, Don Said: My understanding is that most software engineers, no matter where they are, can read English well enough to distinguish and infer enough meaning from English element types to use them. In Korea, for example, English is everywhere and most Koreans can recognize the words even if they can't pronounce them. Of course, we are talking about simple or well-known words like office, automation, web, starcraft, order, name; not words like pedantic. Didier replies: Don, is this what we call the melting pot? QUIZ: On the 6 billion people that inhabit this planet what is the total percentage of people fluent in English? Should we be short term minded or should we think of the web for the following years? Should we adopt an american centric view of the world or consider the biological and cultural diversity of this planet? Have you ever read some 18th century stories of a guy named Lafontaine? Stories like, for instance, the Fox and the Heron? The fox invites the Heron for diner. The fox presents a plate containing plenty of meat to the Heron. But the Heron with its long beak and an aversion for meat stayed silent and could not enjoy such abundance. Later on, the Heron invites the fox for dinner. The Heron presents to the fox a jar having a very narrow neck. The jar is full of fishes. The Heron with its long beak has no trouble to pick the fishes ...but foxes do not eat fishes and our fox compagnion can not even reach them at the bottom of the jar. So Don, are you playing the game of the fox or the Heron here ? cheers Didier PH Martin ---------------------------------------------- Email: martind@n...
