I've folded the comments into the updated version of the SAX event sequence version at: http://www.mds.rmit.edu.au/~msf/misc/SAXEvents.html One outstanding, but simple, question: Are start/end entity events within DTD content reported or not? The documentation for LexicalHandler.startEntity talks about reporting "an entity in content" --- does that mean only entities in _element_ content? I presume the answer is no, given that it goes on to discuss the form for parameter entities, which are only meaningful in DTD content.
