If by canonical you mean "supported by a standards body" then the closest
thing to that is the W3C's XSL, which is still a Working Draft but is
derived from stylesheet languages that are recommended. However, while I'd
admit to being biased, I think the world of XML scripting is still
sufficiently in flux that it's sensible to choose a language on merit
rather than standards-body recommendation. Given the choice, I'd much
rather program in XML Script or Perl (with XML parser) than XSL.

I'm not aware of any that do.
