Clearly SML needs some escape mechanism so that this can be done. I presume it will be dear old < and > But so long as *tools* make it easy to insert a block of XML or HTML and will do the grunt work of the escaping, I'm not at all convinced that this needs to be supported with CDATA sections in the language itself. Also, for that matter, one might argue that SML does not need CDATA sections because it has no notion of validity, or even a distinction between CDATA and PCDATA elements. So long as the XML or HTML document being "quoted" is well formed, it can go inside any SML tag pair. (Or am I missing something here?) xml-dev: A list for W3C XML Developers.
