Dave,
Why did Netscape feel it necessary to invent RSS rather than use CDF as
Microsoft, DataChannel, PointCast, etc. do? 
What does RSS do that CDF does not? 
Is the difference so drastic that a new format is necessary, or could CDF
be improved instead?

I don't mean for this to sound like a jab. I am genuinely curious to know
your purpose and reasoning.
