The earliest versions of HotJava validated, but there's this evil thing called "bad HTML" that quickly reared its ugly head. No HTML browser can possibly afford to validate. Instead, they compete on how many violations of HTML syntax they can "add value to". Let's all do our bit to prevent this from happening with XML.
