No, "serving the masses" means smart content that adapts cleanly to a broad range of clients. Usability Matters, whether it's an API, a file format, an OS, or a piece of software. Just ask my Mom -- windows doesn't make a damn bit of sense to her. HTML happened because it was simple enough that when you did "View Source..." in Mosaic the first time, you could figure it out. Windows happened because it was a lot easier to grok than the command line. Isn't helping us climb out of the muck of always having to design for some lowest common denominator one of XML's reasons for existence?
