Rather than depending on external processors, I simply
allow for them.

So having certain PIs would have magic effects on certain
entities?  Sounds very wifty to me, not much in the spirit
of XML self-documenting documents.

I just did that for clarity, so that I don't have to talk about
attributes that may or may not be physically present in the
document.
