Or both? For instance, the SDD might include metadata such as date of creation, author, and so on; the generated DTD might incorporate all that, taken directly from the SDD, AND add to it something along the lines of "DTDGENERATOR='SSD2DTD VERSION 1.0' GENERATEDDATE='19980618'". Does it make a difference which of these metadata the XSD proposal addresses? John E.
