html xml declaration

You will not be able to embed arbiturary XML data into HTML. Some filtering
and transformation is required to make sure everything is digestable by HTML
browsers and processors. I assume that you are planning to bracket the XML
data with an HTML tag which prevents rendering and access the XML elements
through DOM from a scripting language like JavaScript.

I do not see any serious problem with what you are trying to do. If you are
looking for some guidelines in removing HTML hostile constructs of XML, I
suggest you read the HTML spec. If you are looking for some software to do
this, I do not think there is anything available at this time but it should
be easy to write a SAX application which reads in XML resources and writes
out HTML-friendly XML.
