Thomas DorganSubject: X12 mapping problem where the same segment exists in different loops
Author: Thomas Dorgan

When I attach a source EDI document converted to xml where the REF segment is at the header level and also in the N1 loop the source does not show the latter. The structure looks like this:
ISA~
GS~
ST~
BIG~
REF~
REF~
N1~
N3~
N4~
REF~
REF~
REF~
PER~
N1~
N3~
N4~
N1~
N4~~

Is there any way to get the mapper to recognize that there is a REF in the N1 loop?

You could try generating a schema for that XML document and mapping
against that schema. Use File|Document Wizards|X12 to XML Schema.

If this doesn't help, you can manually add nodes to the tree in the
mapper, or you could send a copy of your EDI document to us to try
to duplicate your situation. stylus-field-report (at) progress.com
