Mehran ZiadlooSubject: XSLT and Looping by a number!!
Author: Mehran Ziadloo

Hi,
I know that this question has been asked a million times, but I could not find my answer in them!! Sorry..
Consider an XML like this:

<?xml version='1.0'?>
<Root number="3" />

And I want to get an output via XSLT like this:

<?xml version='1.0'?>
<AnotherRoot>
<Row />
<Row />
<Row />
</AnotherRoot>

Which means the number of Rows was specified by the attribute of "number" in the first XML document.
Well, would you please tell me how can I do this?

Thanks,
Mehran Ziadloo

Try this:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">

<xsl:template match="/">
<xml>
<xsl:call-template name="Recursive">
<xsl:with-param name="count" select="/Root/@number"/>
</xsl:call-template>
</xml>
</xsl:template>

<xsl:template name="Recursive">
<xsl:param name="count"/>
<row/>
<xsl:if test="$count > 1">
<xsl:call-template name="Recursive">
<xsl:with-param name="count" select="$count - 1"/>
</xsl:call-template>
</xsl:if>
</xsl:template>

</xsl:stylesheet>
