Gary WatsonSubject: J2e runtime
Author: Gary Watson

Hello,

I have installed the trial version 6 of stylus and I have also installed the jsee 1.4. However when I go into the options and do auto detect settings it doesn't find the java runtime stuff. Obviously with this problem I can't run the wizards etc. I am running windows XP.

Can anyone help me with this at all.

Thanks.

The versions of the JVM that we've tested with, and that Stylus Studio
looks for, are listed at
http://www.stylusstudio.com/configure_jre.html

You might be able to manually configure Stylus Studio to use J2EE 1.4
however; that article should give some hints. Check also where the
registry setting
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment
says.

Hi Gary,

It seems like there is some confusion here.

J2EE stand for Java Platform Enterprise edition and as far as I remember doesn't install the Java Virtual Machine and in any case is *not* required by Stylus Studio *neither* the Sun application server.

Stylus Studio only requires the Java Virtual machine also called JRE
To enable some of the functionality described in the page mentioned by Tony.

The Java Virtual machine is available for download here
"JRE 5.0" http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp

Hope this helps
