I'm having a problem getting SS to recognize VSS. I've tried re installing both and SS still can't find VSS. Am I missing something?

Can you tell us what keys/values do you have in the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SourceCodeControlProvider\InstalledSCCProviders ?

Key doesn't exist. Is that a problem with my VSS installation?

Yes. That key is the proper place where all the SCCAPI-compliant servers
(like VSS) will register their presence in the system. Just to be sure,
check if you also have HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SourceSafe
(where SourceSafe writes some settings): if you are also missing this key,
your VSS installation could not complete its job (BTW, did you install it
as Administrator? Maybe you didn't have enough rights to write in the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE registry branch)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SourceSafe does exist, so I'm reinstalling VSS again and let's see if that fixes it. I also got the first key off of another machine. It seems to be pointing to the right location.

After reinstalling SourceSafe again. It seems to work fine with SS.

Thanks!!!
