Dmitriy TeslerSubject: XML Schema bug
Author: Dmitriy Tesler
Date: 16 Oct 2001 05:45 PM
Dear Excelon Team,

Here is a significant bug I found during schema editing:
1. Make a ComplexType.
2. Add Attribute Group Reference.
3. Add attribute.
4. Add sequence.

Because the sequence added in order entered it'll be added AFTER Attributes. This is a bug. SHOULD BE inserted immediately after ComplexType open tag.
The remedy is to manually move it like said above.

Please, fix it ASAP. It is a VERY confusing, especially, because XML Schema spec is complex and user tends belive the tool.

Sincerely,
David

Thanks for reporting this.
We are looking into the problem; we'll work to squeeze a fix into 3.1 final
release.

Hi David,
you are right; currently the tree view in the XMLSchema editor doesn't
manipulate what the user does to enforce the spec, because we don't want to
prevent the user from entering in a temporary violation of the rules (e.g.:
add a second complexType node under an element definition before deleting
the first one). We are working on adding a "view" on the schema that can be
used by a person with no knowledge of the spec, but in any case the problem
you are pointing can indeed be fixed without limiting the freedom of the user.
In other words, thanks for the feedback and expect it fixed as soon as it
is possible.

Thanks,

Alberto
