Author: Vadiraj Kerur

Hi there,
my original requirement is to convert html to xsl dynamically..
so now I m using stylus's 'xml to xml mapping stylesheet'.I m converting my html to well formed html(xml)then in xml-xml mapping window, for source i open my xml file and for dest file I open the xml which is converted by html to xhtml..then as per stylus I do drag and drop as per my requirements and it creates xsl..well..fine..
but when it creates the xsl file it does not retain the html tag attributes in the generated xsl...so is there any way to retain the attributes...
I m in very urgent pls reply to this question
thanks in advance :-)
cheers

Vadiraj,
the XML to XML mapping functionality is meant to be used when you want
to transform existing XML documents following one schema into some other
"equivalent" XML document following a different schema. It is not meant to
be of any help when you are trying to do XML to HTML, even if in abstract
what you are following is a reasonable process.

Your problem will really be addressed by the WYSIWYG functionality on which
we are actively working; that will let you "visually" create an HTML page
where parts of it are created with drag&drop operations from a source XML
document.

Until WYSIWYG is available (should be by the end of the year), the only
suggestion I can make is that you go through the HTML to XSLT document
wizard (File|Document wizards..., I guess that's what you have already done
to convert html into xhtml), and then edit the XSLT source directly in
those areas where you need to add dynamic behavior.

Hope this helps,
Minollo
