It would be really nice SS showed elapsed time for a transform. Then I can easily test different approaches to a problem to see which is more efficient.

Yup; this has already been noted as a PCR coming from this list. It will be
done soon.

This is now a feature of the product in build 44, available as a 3.0 update.
