I have a tab delimited text file that I want to convert to XML. I have xsd and dtd files to use to get the text into the desired format. (I think-I am new to XML) It seems that I should be able to import the XSD and then get the data that is in the text file into that format. I am using the Professional Edition of Stylus

You didn't state your release. If you are running Stylus Studio 6
Professional, you already have a tool in Convert-to-XML which will
turn the file into XML for you.

Do File|New|Convert to XML, and choose your URB.txt file.
Make the following changes to the properties:
Element Name Source: From First Row
Collapse Consecutive Separators: false

Now, save your definition, like URB.conv.

Do File|New|XSLT Mapper.
For the left (input) side, choose your URB.txt file, and then
check the box that says 'open with adapter', and choose the URB.conv
file you created.

For the right (output) side, choose your .xsd or .dtd file.

Now, draw lines to connect the input to output. The result will
be an XSLT file that you can use to read from the text file and
turn into XML in the format you want.

For more information, look in the on-line documentation under
Convert to XML, or see http://www.stylusstudio.com/xml_mapper.html

I have this version:
Stylus Studio XML Professional Edition It looks like the last build is: 501f.
When I go to File>New I do not get the option Convert text to XML. When I was reviewing before purchase, I remember that option. Now it is not there.
Thanks

Yes, Convert-to-XML was available in Professional Edition for v6,
but for 2006 we created a new Enterprise Edition for the high-end
features (we gave paid users a free upgrade).

You can do it as a two-step process; under File|Document Wizards
there is a text-to-XML converter that should work for you.

See http://www.stylusstudio.com/docs/v2006/d_edit9.html

By free upgrade do you mean I could get the convert to xml that is in the Enterprise version with the version of Stylus I now have? I will have more & more tab delimited text files that I will want to import to Stylus and export in xml.
The files will have all been formatted in Excel have the same column headings, etc and then saved to tab delimited text. I can save them as csv instead - that part doesn't matter to me. What I really want to do is be able to import the file to Stylus and then export an xml version that I need to use in my work.
Can I save the format of the xml in Stylus and be able to import new text to it when needed?

You can tell by my questions that I have not mastered xml or Stylus at all. I appreciate your patience and help!!
